Prof. Gary R. Bunt and Prof. Sariya Cheruvallil-Contractor presented a Digital British Islam Policy Seminar at the House of Commons, Westminster on 7 July 2025.
The event was sponsored by Ayoub Khan, MP, and attended by Iqbal Mohamed, MP, and an audience of policy makers and community(-ies) representatives.
Prof. Bunt said: “This was a welcome opportunity to discuss the findings of the project with politicians and policy makers in Westminster, focusing on key topical issues associated with religious authority, representation, the impact of AI on communities, and how attitudes towards and about Islam are shaped by online discourse. There is an opportunity for further engagement regarding the project’s themes at Westminster.”
